Perio

The Perio Chart module (or simply Perio module) is used to record the state of a patient’s periodontal health by charting conditions like pocket depths, attachments, and bleeding. The module displays the information graphically or with text, enabling users to compare data over time as they determine an appropriate course of treatment.

The EHR module allows you to view and access most of this information from within the odontogram and the Perio tab.

There are two places in the EHR that allow you to view and access most perio information:

  • Odontogram: In the odontogram, two perio conditions can be displayed to give a quick summary of the patient’s mouth. The date the conditions were charted also displays so you can easily see how recent the results were.

    • Note: The conditions displayed are for informational purposes only and cannot be edited. They are pulled directly from a perio exam.

  • Perio tab: The Perio tab displays previous perio exams and summaries as well as the PSR score for the patient.

  1. Select a patient and open the EHR module.
  2. Click the Perio tab and click the Create a new Record () icon to display the Add Perio window.

    3. Note: If an incomplete exam exists, you are prompted to select the incomplete exam or create a new exam.

  3. From the Exam Type drop-down list, select the type of perio exam being completed.

    4. The first condition and tooth site display highlighted in yellow and the list of available options for the condition display on the right.

  4. Using your keyboard or the displayed keypad, chart a condition in each highlighted site by entering the appropriate value.
  5. Repeat Step 4 as necessary for each condition.

You can complete a variety of other perio tasks from the EHR module > Perio tab.

  1. Select a patient and open the EHR module.
  2. Click the Perio tab.

  3. Complete any of the following:

    1. Click the Show History () icon to display the Select Perio Date window.

    2. Review the previously entered perio exams for the selected patient.

    1. Click the Open Perio Chart () icon to open the Perio module.

    1. Click the Compare Form () icon to display the Periodontics Comparison Settings window.

    2. Select the condition and dates to compare, as well as decide whether the display should be graphical or text.

    3. Click Accept to view the report.

    1. Click the View Statistics () icon to display the Perio Statistics window.
